Christian Counseling Through ECF

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

-- Matthew 11:28-30

Expatriates face many challenges and stresses while living abroad that they may not experience at home. Among other factors, cultural differences, travel, homesickness, and difficulties with language can take a toll on even the strongest person’s spiritual and emotional well-being.

Escazú Christian Fellowship offers support and encouragement to Costa Rica’s English-language community through its ministry of counseling and coaching, as well as the practice of Spiritual Direction.

ECF’s Pastor, Stacey Steck, provides caring, short-term guidance and coaching for people experiencing strained marital and family relationships, difficulties with children, depression, life or vocational discernment, and other issues. Referrals are made for more chronic or severe issues that require more experienced professional expertise.

Please feel free to contact Pastor Stacey Steck at 8395-9653 to request an appointment, or to learn more about how ECF’s counseling ministry or Spiritual Direction may be able to help you or someone you know.

ECF's Approach to Counseling and Coaching

Recognizes Christ’s healing ministry encompassed mind, body, and spirit, and that he called the church to extend this ministry.

Takes seriously the reality of sin which affects both the sinner (the heart-breaker) and
the sinned-against (the broken-hearted).

Uses a “family ministry” approach which takes into account the whole family system.

Focuses on positive and proactive strategies to effect personal change.

Supported (confidentially) by a faithful prayer team.

Sees the church community as both direct, and indirect support to persons in need.
